Curls

Finding Your Way Back to Curls and Being Inspirational by Aleisbel V.

It was just a couple of years ago I was accepting an award for a curly hair company when I stated in front of thousands “ CURLY HAIR IS NOT A TREND IT’S A NATURAL MOVEMENT" . Shortly there after social media platforms started to become flooded with natural curly girls , transitioning and hair experts  wanting to create a community for each other . Not just any community but a community making statements and demanding that our hair category was just as normal  as any other hair categories while showing off the  EPIC-NESS of our natural beauty. I have taken the opportunity to invite 3 of our CurlPop friends to talk about who they are , their favorite products , natural hair journeys , advice and how they use their social media platforms. They’re vibes were far from shy.  Don’t forget to peep they all have different textures and curl patterns while they’re goals and journey’s are similar in empowering  women!

SONRIE, ERES BELLA

Name: Tatiana Fernandez.

Instagram: Instagram.com/taty_froever

Boss moves: Currently Self employed. Business Administration & Accounting Graduate.

Hobby: Being able to promote self love in a positive way on my Instagram page. I like motivating women to love themselves and appreciate themselves. We are all beautiful in our own way and I believe that’s what makes each and everyone of us different & uniquely beautiful.

How much time do you spend on your hair?: Now that is a great question. I think when it comes to my hair I try to take care of my hair as much as I can. When I’m not busy I take the time to care for  and see what I can do to better the health of my hair. When I first started taking care of my hair I felt like I was too obsessed with having beautiful healthy curly hair but what I learned with time is that it’s all a process. As the time passes we learn something new. We learn from experience.

If 2 of your favorite products got discontinued  what would you do?: First , I would cry just a little bit just because it’s so hard for me to find products that work for me but I wouldn’t give up hope. I would continue trying new products out to find the ones that work for my hair.

What are your favorite products?: My favorite products vary on the climate change and the mood my hair goes through. I know it may seem crazy but I can’t use the same products every week or my hair becomes harder to manage. So far the products that haven’t let me down when I’ve used them are:

Phyto Specific Paris - Cleansing Cream.

Shea Moisture- Jamaican Black Castor Oil Shampoo.

Woman to Woman Naturals Gorgeous Collection ( Conditioner)

Camille Rose Naturals - Moroccan Pear Conditioning Custard

Camille Rose Naturals- Cocoa Nibs & Honey Ultimate Growth Serum.

Bounce Curl - Light Creme Gel.

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie .

Righteous Roots Oils

Coco & Eve-  Like a Virgin Hair Masque.

Shea Moisture- African Black Soap Purification Masque.

Who’s side do you get your texture from?: My moms side. Even though she has straight hair my grandmothers hair is similar to mine.

Who’s side do your curls come from?: My moms side. My grandmother has curly hair similar to mine.

Are you a transition or Big Chop type of Curls?: I actually did both. Right before I started my hair journey my hair was up to my belly button.   My hair was actually damaged from my roots to my ends. I know it’s hard to believe but even the hair that had grown out was damaged just because I straightened my hair every single day and I made sure that my roots were straightened even if that meant almost burning my scalp off, sadly because of that I hurt a section of my scalp which is now sensitive to heat.

So what I decided to do was a semi-big chop which is what I called it. I cut my hair almost to ear length and let it grow out until I was ready to cut the damaged section again.

DIY or product junkie?: I like both options. I have A LOT of products , some have worked on my hair and some haven’t but lately, I’ve been really into learning about natural remedies and masques. I think my hair reacts better when I use natural masques to really hydrate it. I would say I’m a little bit of a DIY and a Product Junkie.

What advice would you give to a Curly girl who is about to embark on a Curly hair journey?: I would let her know that it’s all about being patient. “Enjoy the process, grow , learn and really take this time to appreciate yourself”. Hair is hair, it grows back don’t stress so much  on having perfect curly hair. The more into your Curly Hair Journey The more you will learn what to do and what not to do, what your hair likes and doesn’t like.

What advice would you give your 13 year old self?: I would definitely say to my 13 year old self “Girl, take it easy. Enjoy being a kid and PLEASE embrace your beautiful curls.” Don’t be afraid to be different and keep your dreams alive not only in your thoughts but in your heart. You are your biggest motivator in life but most importantly let God guide you at all times.

I like to use my platform to empower women . How do you use your platform?: Personally for me it’s been about self love. I’m very passionate about making people smile and feel beautiful with who they are. I use my platform not only to talk about my curly hair journey but also to promote self love in the best way I can. I post content which every woman can get motivated from no matter their age.]
